How to Run a Successful Industry 4.0 Project

We all know that Industry 4.0 is a hot topic. But it covers many technologies and it's hard to know what is the best approach and how to prove value for your organisation. To help, we've put together a few quick guidelines on choosing and running an Industry 4.0 pilot. 1. Choose Value Over Technology New technology is always interesting, especially for engineers and technicians. We recommend to research all the new Industry 4.0 technologies with specific problems in mind. Creating value is the key in providing an ROI. 2. Agree Use Cases & Desired Outcomes It's important to be specific about your use cases for any technology pilot. Two or three is recommended and each should have a well defined set of objectives. 3. Project Lead A dedicated project lead at a high level in your organisation is important to make sure the correct resources are allocated and to drive the project focus as other priorities call for attention. 4. Team Members Ownership of the solution should rest with the staff who are going to be using it on a daily basis. They should decide how the technology fits with existing practice and transforms into new ways of working. 5. Innovation Support Your technology partner who is providing the solution will have experience in implementation and engagement of staff. Lean on them for previous learnings and to solve technical issues quickly as they arise. 6. Communicating Results All going to plan, the pilot should define a clear path forward to implementing a solution across the site and the entire organisation. Defining the ROI and benefits for all to see will be a great outcome for the project team. If you want further information, forward your questions to - enquiries@utilityar.com
